madeleine albright

First woman appointed as Secretary of State, Dr. Madeleine Albright, served under the Clinton administration from 1997-2001. She was born in Prague in 1937 and lived a life in fear of communist rise to power. In 1948, her family fled to the United States where she immersed herself in education and politics. While serving as Secretary of State, Albright and Helms became fast friends and she agreed to speak at Wingate University as part of the Jesse Helms Lecture Series.
